British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said July 19th is ‘looking good’ for the end of restrictions due to Covid-19.

Covid July 19th: what Boris Johnson said

The Prime Minister wanted to share with UK citizens his faith in the future. He said that probably the remaining curbs on social contact will continue beyond 21 June.

This date was meant to be for them to be lifted.

So, the final moment of easing lockdown restrictions in England is to be delayed until July 19th.

The decision

The Government will soon confirm that the July 5th is too early for stop the measures, because lot of people still need to receive their second vaccine.

However, the Prime Minister Boris Johnson is more and more optimistic that all the restrictions can be eased on July 19th, according to the Times. The Minister has the desire to “get as close to normal as possible” and emphasized the need for a responsibility coming from individuals more than the law.

He also said that there will probably be a review after two weeks, and he is confident that no more than four weeks will be needed for a delay.

However, he could not decide by himself, and at a Downing Street press conference he said there is the possibility that the date could be pushed back further.

What will change from July 19th?

Since the PM Boris Johnson is optimistic about this decision, it’s interesting to know what will change. The Covid-19 restrictions have bothered people since the beginning and for many since the possibility of going out. They are asking about summer and vacation restrictions.

The obligation to wear masks will be replaced by a set of rules that will only be applied in certain places. People will no longer be obliged to wear masks in the presence of other people, but only in certain situations. Furthermore, no guidance will be given to employers and individuals in the workspace, but they will have to decide their own rules.

Then, on weddings the number of guests will not be limited, but the locations must adhere to other rules.

Finally, there is the uncertainty on how to regulate the international travel. It is possible that restrictions on the travel abroad will be delayed again. Indeed, the Health Secretary Matt Hancock said to the Government that opening up travel abroad is “more difficult”. He underlines the success of the vaccination program, and the fact that he is on track with the further openings on July 19. Currently is reaching out all the 972.000 youths aged 21 and 22 inviting them to book their Covid vaccine.

Latest developments

According to UK Government figures, the number of patients with Covid-19 in hospital has reached a peak for nearly two months. On June 20, the patients were a total of 1,378.

Compared to the week before, this grew up of 21 per cent, and it’s the highest number since the end of April. In addition, this is up 58 per cent from the people recorded on the end of May, that were 870. This was the lowest number from the second wave of the Covid-19.

However, all of these numbers show that the situation is improved. Indeed, the patients now are still well below the ones calculated at the worst of the second wave. On January 18, which was the most difficult period since the beginning of the pandemic, the total number of people affected by Covid-19 was 39,254.

It’s important to remark these numbers since the UK hasn’t reached the 10 thousand patients since the first time in February.
