Get involved with women’s football

There are many ways to engage with women’s football at the University of Huddersfield, catering to both competitive players and those seeking a more relaxed experience. Here’s a breakdown of the membership options available:

Competitive membership

For those looking to test their skills and represent our university in the BUCS (British Universities and Colleges Sport) league, the competitive membership is ideal. With an annual fee of £75, this membership grants access to high-caliber coaching sessions led by our esteemed head coach, Paolo. You will have the opportunity to compete against top-tier footballers across Yorkshire, receiving tailored support throughout your journey.

Training sessions for competitive members take place at the Leeds Road Sports Complex on Tuesdays from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Additionally, our Strength and Conditioning sessions, conducted by expert coach Katie Denton, occur on Mondays and Fridays, ensuring all athletes are physically prepared for the season.

Development and recreational membership

If your focus is on skill development rather than competitive play, consider our development membership, priced at £55. This option is perfect for those wanting to hone their fundamental skills while enjoying weekly training sessions without the pressure of a full competition schedule. Led by our club captain and president, Martha and Philippa, it encourages players to build confidence and return to the sport after a break.

Regular Yorkshire Regional Development fixture days will provide opportunities to compete against other universities, allowing you to represent Huddersfield while still focusing on improvement and enjoyment.

Social events and community engagement

For those more interested in the social aspect of the sport, we offer a community membership available for just £7.50. This membership allows you to participate in our lively social events, including themed nights out on Wednesdays, where you can meet like-minded individuals and forge new friendships. Each week features a fresh theme, ensuring a fun atmosphere—past events have included everything from Minions to Men in Black.

Throughout the academic year, we also organize various activities such as bowling nights, charity tournaments, and our grand presentation night, where we honor our members’ achievements. These events are an essential part of our community, fostering a family-like atmosphere and encouraging participation from all members.

We believe that every member adds value to our football family, and we warmly welcome those who join solely for social engagement. Your enthusiasm and support during matches truly make our club special.
