Manager Ruben Amorim highlights the need for patience as Benjamin Sesko adjusts to life at Manchester United.

After Benjamin Sesko’s high-profile transfer from RB Leipzig for a staggering £73.7 million, Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has weighed in on the hurdles the young striker faces in adapting to the Premier League. Although Sesko made a brief appearance during United’s recent 1-1 draw with Fulham, he hasn’t seen much playing time, as Amorim has leaned towards fellow summer signing Matheus Cunha for the starting role.
Amorim’s Insights on Sesko’s Progress
In a recent press conference, Amorim tackled questions from the media about Sesko’s early days at Manchester United. He stressed the importance of giving the 21-year-old some breathing room to adjust to his new surroundings.
“I think he needs time. It’s not easy when you’re on the bench and then thrown into a fast-paced game. The Premier League is definitely quicker than the Bundesliga, and he’s working to keep up with that pace,” Amorim explained.
He also noted that even with limited chances, Sesko has showcased determination and a desire to connect with his teammates on the pitch.
“When he was on the field against Fulham, we weren’t exactly at our best, which can affect how you view a player’s performance. However, I’m pleased with his effort and commitment. We need to support him, and it’s crucial that we create better opportunities for him to shine,” Amorim stated.
United’s Goal-Scoring Challenges
Despite the team’s struggles in front of goal, Amorim remains optimistic about what’s to come. Last season, Manchester United managed to score only 44 goals, and their first goal of this campaign came from a deflected header by Leny Yoro against Fulham. Amorim reassured fans, saying, “The goals will come. We are generating plenty of chances, and I believe the players will find their scoring touch soon.” Both Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, who are also new to the squad, have yet to find the back of the net, but Amorim is confident they’ll make significant contributions as the season unfolds.
“I’ve put last season behind me. The feeling is different now. We scored against Fulham, and that’s a positive sign moving forward,” he reflected. However, the team remains winless in the league after two matches, with their latest outing ending in a draw thanks to Emile Smith Rowe’s late equalizer for Fulham.
Looking Ahead
As Manchester United gears up for their upcoming fixtures, Amorim insists the team can build on their performances. They dominated stretches of both games against Arsenal and Fulham, hinting at their potential for improvement. The manager’s focus is on cultivating a positive environment for the players, enabling them to adapt and thrive in this demanding league. The message is clear: patience is key, and the squad needs time to gel and find their rhythm.
With the promise of Sesko, Cunha, and Mbeumo, fans are hopeful that the club can turn their fortunes around and put last season’s disappointments in the rearview mirror. As the Premier League season unfolds, all eyes will be on how these new signings integrate into the squad and contribute to Manchester United’s goals and ambitions. Will they rise to the occasion? Only time will tell.
