Five people have been charged after an early morning incident on 21 February on the A38 near Bristol Airport that left two men seriously injured; court dates and ongoing enquiries are under way.

Around 8:25am on 21 February, police were called to the A38 near Bristol Airport after several vehicles collided and a violent altercation unfolded at the scene. Emergency crews treated two men for serious assault injuries; neither injury was described as life‑threatening or life‑changing, and both patients have since been discharged from hospital.
Avon and Somerset Police led the response, with Gloucestershire officers helping later in the day to intercept and detain suspects on the M5 northbound. Five people have been charged in connection with the incident: Vladimir Stan, 52, Palace Road, Birmingham; Constantin Stan, 29, Merrishaw Road, Birmingham; Mihai Stan, 20, Manilla Road, Birmingham; Able Marin, 20, Palace Road, Birmingham; and Florin Stan, 28, Essendon Road, Birmingham.
The charges include conspiring to cause grievous bodily harm with intent, conspiring to commit robbery, violent disorder, criminal damage and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place. All five were remanded in custody after appearing at North Somerset Magistrates’ Court on Monday 23 February and are due to appear at Bristol Crown Court on Monday 23 March.
A sixth person, a 40‑year‑old man, was arrested but has been released under investigation while enquiries continue.
Scene preservation and evidence gathering have been priorities from the outset. Officers secured the area for forensic examination and detectives are reviewing CCTV, interviewing witnesses and analysing digital and transactional data to piece together a timeline. Superintendent Jen Appleford said investigators believe those involved knew one another and that the incident appears to be self‑contained, not posing a wider risk to the public. She thanked local people for their patience while emergency services worked at the scene and urged anyone with information to come forward.
Even short pieces of footage or a brief recollection can be crucial. Members of the public who can help are asked to contact Avon and Somerset Police on 101, quoting reference 5226049352, or to use the force’s online appeals form. Anonymous tips can be made to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via their website.
The initial emergency response caused some disruption on the A38 near the airport, but local roads have since reopened. Officers say enquiries will continue across force boundaries as they analyse evidence ahead of the March hearing.
