Tottenham received a €30,000 fine and a one-game suspended ban from selling away tickets after three fans made Nazi salutes in Frankfurt; the club says it has banned the individuals and worked with authorities

Tottenham have been hit with disciplinary sanctions after three supporters performed Nazi salutes during their away game at Deutsche Bank Park in Frankfurt on 28 January.
What happened
– UEFA’s Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body (CEDB) found the gestures to be racist and discriminatory.
The governing body fined Tottenham €30,000 (£26,200) for the salutes.
– Separately, the club was fined €2,250 (£1,967) for objects thrown during the same match.
– In addition to the fines, UEFA imposed a one-year suspended ban on the sale of away tickets for one European fixture.
That suspension is on probation for 12 months and will only be activated if similar misconduct recurs. UEFA has confirmed the temporary restriction does not apply to Tottenham’s imminent trip to Atletico Madrid in the Champions League last-16 first leg.
Club response and policing
– Tottenham says it has identified the three individuals who made the salutes and has issued them with indefinite stadium bans under its Sanctions and Banning Policy.
– The club has condemned the behaviour as utterly abhorrent, described it as the actions of a tiny minority, and said it is cooperating with UEFA, German police and the Metropolitan Police in ongoing inquiries.
What this means going forward
– The suspended ticket ban is intended as a deterrent: it remains dormant unless there is a repeat of comparable discriminatory conduct during the probationary year, at which point UEFA may enforce the restriction.
– UEFA and local authorities will continue to monitor the situation. Further action — including additional UEFA sanctions, police investigations or appeals — could follow depending on developments.
– Clubs and fan groups may also pursue education or awareness measures to prevent recurrence.
In short: Tottenham faces combined fines totalling €32,250 and a conditional one-year suspended away-ticket ban after footage showed three supporters making Nazi salutes. The individuals have been banned by the club and investigations by UEFA and the police are ongoing.
