The incident, which occurred at around 6:30 PM, prompted a swift response from armed officers of Surrey Police. The victim, a man in his 30s, was rushed to the hospital by the South East Coast Ambulance Service. The suspect, a Somali national, was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remains in custody as the investigation unfolds.

Council leader Joanne Sexton emphasized the need for greater engagement from the Home Office regarding its plans. “We are here tonight because the people of Stanwell have serious and valid concerns about the proposed changes to the Stanwell Hotel,” she said following an extraordinary meeting in August 2026.
