Best weekly lease deals and new budget-friendly cars

October’s arrival brings more than just pumpkins and costumes – it also delivers a fresh batch of vehicle-leasing promotions that feel as comforting as a warm latte. Select Car Leasing has compiled five of the most attractive offers currently on the market, ranging from compact petrol hatchbacks to fully electric fastbacks.

All quotes include VAT and assume a 5,000-mile annual allowance, but the specifics of each contract – length, initial payment and mileage – differ enough to merit a closer look.

Beyond the immediate savings, the automotive landscape is quietly reshaping itself with a wave of low-cost models set to appear in UK showrooms over the next twelve months.

While safety regulations have pushed the entry-level price ceiling above the old £10,000 mark, a number of manufacturers are still delivering genuine value under £25,000, many of them electrified. This guide walks you through the week’s top lease deals and then hands you a preview of eight upcoming cars that could become your next budget-friendly ride.

Weekly lease specials worth your attention

The Vauxhall Corsa Ultimate leads the pack with a monthly payment of £171.34, including VAT, for a 24-month term. The deal requires a £2,056.08 upfront payment (equivalent to 12 months) plus a £354 arrangement fee. Powered by a 1.2-litre turbo-charged petrol engine paired with an automatic gearbox, the Corsa delivers roughly 50 mpg and comes loaded with heated seats, a heated steering wheel and adaptive cruise control – a rare level of equipment at this price point.

If you prefer zero-emission performance, the Polestar 2 Long Range Single Motor Prime can be leased for £349.48 per month (VAT inclusive) on a 48-month contract. An initial payment of £4,193.76 and the same £354 fee secure a vehicle that offers up to 409 miles of WLTP range, a panoramic roof and a premium Harman Kardon audio system. The fastback’s minimalist interior and strong performance make it a compelling alternative to the Tesla Model 3.

For those needing a bit more cabin space, the Jeep Compass Summit hybrid version is available at £208.00 per month for 24 months, with a £2,496 upfront figure. This mild-hybrid SUV blends rugged styling with family-friendly features such as an illuminated front grille and full-vinyl upholstery. Meanwhile, the Peugeot 2008 Allure compact crossover can be taken for £220.03 per month over 36 months, delivering 130 PS from a 1.2-litre PureTech engine and equipped with 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels and a 10-inch HD touchscreen.

Rounding out the selection, the MG ZS SE hybrid SUV offers a £200.74 monthly rate on a 48-month deal. The vehicle achieves up to 55.4 mpg and includes a 12.3-inch display, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, and the ‘MG Pilot’ safety suite (adaptive cruise control and lane-keep assist). An initial payment of £2,408.88 plus the standard £354 fee secures a well-equipped compact SUV at a remarkably low price.

Eight affordable models poised to hit UK roads

Looking beyond leasing, eight upcoming vehicles promise to keep the market accessible. The Dacia Striker blends hatchback practicality with estate-style cargo space, offering both petrol and hybrid powertrains and a starting price under £25,000. Its roomy rear seat layout and large boot aim to compete with larger family cars while staying affordable.

The refreshed Dacia Spring electric city car, built on a Renault-derived platform, will ship with a 155-mile WLTP range and a revamped interior. Priced below £18,000, it remains one of the cheapest EVs on the horizon, although it sits £6,000 above the current model.

Hyundai’s answer to the compact EV segment is the Ioniq 3 which arrives with two battery options: a 213-mile range for the entry model and a 308-mile range for the top spec. Starting at £22,245, the Ioniq 3 also introduces a 14.6-inch Android-based infotainment screen, bridging the gap between smartphone and car interface.

Returning under a new guise, the Nissan Pixo will be reborn as an all-electric city hatch, borrowing the Renault Twingo’s chassis and a 28 kWh pack that delivers 161 miles. Its 356-litre boot and sliding rear seats make it a practical choice for urban families, with a price target of under £20,000 for early 2027 deliveries.

Chinese automaker Omoda plans to launch the Omoda 4 its smallest SUV, initially as a hybrid before an electric version follows. Expected to price under £25,000, the model’s interior will feature a carbon-effect centre console and a red-accented start button, giving it a sporty aura reminiscent of far more expensive super-SUVs.

Renault is set to release a brand-new Twingo that builds on the Spring’s underpinnings but receives a more mature interior and a youthful exterior palette. With a sub-£20,000 price tag and a range of bright colour options, it aims to attract city drivers who value style as much as practicality.

From the Czech Republic, Skoda Epiq arrives as the brand’s smallest EV, positioned as a lifted hatchback-SUV hybrid. The base model offers 135 hp and 190 miles of range, while higher trims push power to 211 hp and extend the range to 272 miles. Pricing will sit just under £25,000, making it comparable to other entry-level EVs.

Lastly, Volkswagen teases the ID Every1 a concept that could become the production-ready ID Up. With an anticipated WLTP range of at least 155 miles and a starting price around £20,000, the model targets the same niche as the Renault Twingo and Honda Super N, promising a compact footprint without sacrificing everyday usability.
