AURA Aberdeen: A vibrant transformation of a nightlife icon
For over six decades, AURA Aberdeen has been a cornerstone of the city’s nightlife, captivating locals and visitors alike with its lively atmosphere and unforgettable experiences. Originally known as The Palace Ballroom, this iconic venue has undergone a remarkable evolution, and its latest transformation promises to elevate the entertainment scene in Aberdeen even further.
From clubbing to major events
AURA Aberdeen has long been synonymous with vibrant club nights, but the venue is now embracing a broader vision. The rebranding initiative aims to establish AURA as a major events space, catering to a diverse audience with an array of attractions.
Owner Tony Cochrane emphasizes the need for variety, stating, “We still have club nights, but we are always looking for something different.” This fresh approach will not only retain beloved events like Disco Days but also introduce exciting new offerings.
Upcoming events to look forward to
The transformation kicks off with an exclusive event on February 1, featuring the cast of the cult crime film franchise, Rise of the Footsoldier. Attendees will have the chance to engage in Q&A sessions, memorabilia auctions, and meet-and-greet opportunities with star Craig Fairbrass and other cast members. General admission tickets are priced at £30, with a special 20% discount available for early bookings.
Following this launch, AURA will host a series of themed gatherings and performances, including the highly anticipated Big Oasis Reunion Party on March 1. This event will feature special guest Alan McGee, the legendary founder of Creation Records, alongside the acclaimed tribute band Ohasis. With DJ DAN, the original aftershow DJ for Oasis, spinning tracks, attendees can expect a nostalgic celebration of the Britpop era.
A unique experience for all
AURA Aberdeen’s transformation is not just about new events; it’s about creating a unique experience for everyone. The venue’s popular Disco Days, a daytime clubbing event, will continue to draw in crowds with its lively yet relaxed atmosphere. Spanning two floors, these events have become a favorite for those seeking a fun outing without the late-night hassle. As the one-year anniversary of Disco Days approaches, AURA invites revelers to join in the celebration and help “keep disco alive in 2025.”
With a stellar lineup of events and a commitment to providing something for everyone, AURA Aberdeen is poised to become a premier destination for entertainment in the city. Whether you’re a long-time fan or new to the scene, the upcoming offerings promise to deliver unforgettable experiences that celebrate the past while looking to the future.
