Over the next five years, he dedicated himself to making the business a success, ultimately selling it in 2021. He then joined Alexander Murray & Co, a whisky import company, where he continues to thrive in the industry. His passion for whisky is evident as he embraces his Scottish roots, even sponsoring his former rugby club, Gordonians.
Staying connected to his roots
Despite his new life in California, Cusiter remains deeply connected to his Scottish heritage. He frequently returns to Aberdeen to visit family and friends, expressing his eagerness to reconnect over a pint at the Dutch Mill. His love for Scotland is palpable, especially as the 2025 Six Nations Championship approaches. Cusiter is optimistic about Scotland’s chances, despite recent injuries to key players. He believes that with solid backup options, the team can still challenge for a top position in the tournament.

Even with potential challenges like tariffs on Scotch whisky looming due to political changes, he remains hopeful. “There are definitely some concerns. It would be bad for the Scotch whisky business, but also the American whiskey business for their exports,” he noted.
