Inverness Caledonian Thistle midfielder Paul Allan has expressed his enthusiasm for the revitalized atmosphere within the squad since the appointment of manager Scott Kellacher. As the team faces a challenging relegation battle, Allan believes that the positive changes in management have significantly boosted morale and performance on the pitch.

Allan’s contributions and team dynamics

Allan, who has made a notable impact this season with eight assists, is currently tied for the most assists in League One. His recent performance included setting up the only goal in a crucial match against Queen of the South, helping secure a vital win for his team.

With a total of 21 appearances and three goals this season, Allan’s contributions have been instrumental in keeping Caley Thistle competitive.

Reflecting on the team’s recent performances, Allan noted, “The gaffer has asked us to go and enjoy ourselves. I think people can see that with the way we’re playing. It seems a much happier buzz around the club compared to when I joined, and of course, winning games helps with that.” This shift in focus towards enjoyment and expression on the field has been pivotal in fostering a more cohesive and motivated team environment.

Challenges and aspirations amid administration

Despite the positive atmosphere, Allan acknowledged the challenges posed by the club’s recent administration, which resulted in a 15-point deduction. He stated, “The club is going through a tough time with administration. It is annoying to see that – in any other season – we could be challenging to go straight back up to the Championship.” However, Allan remains optimistic about the team’s prospects, emphasizing the importance of focusing on their own performance to climb the league table.

With four wins in their last five matches, Caley Thistle is currently positioned just two points behind rivals Annan Athletic. Allan remarked, “We’re just focusing on ourselves and keep winning games of football. Hopefully, that will take us where we want to be come the end of the season.” The midfielder’s determination reflects the collective ambition of the squad to overcome adversity and secure their place in the league.

New signings making an impact

The recent loan signings of young talents from Aberdeen, including striker Alfie Bavidge and midfielder Alfie Stewart, have also contributed to the team’s resurgence. Bavidge has quickly made his mark, scoring four goals in five games, while Stewart has showcased his versatility and skill in an advanced role. Allan praised their contributions, stating, “Both players have brought a lot of quality to our team. Bav, up top, is lively and he likes to run in behind – and he’s clearly got an eye for goal.”

As Caley Thistle prepares for their upcoming match against Arbroath, Allan remains confident in the team’s ability to secure a victory. He acknowledged the challenges posed by their opponents but expressed belief in their potential to triumph. “Arbroath will be right up there come the end of the season. It will be another tough one, but hopefully we can go there and win,” he said, highlighting the team’s determination to continue their positive momentum.
