In the heart of Aberdeen, Adam Wilson embarked on a journey to establish his own audio-visual company, driven by a vision to create a business that he could genuinely be proud of. Fast forward five years, and his company, PCL Live, has not only achieved this goal but has also surpassed a significant milestone, breaking the £1 million turnover mark.
From humble beginnings to industry recognition
Founded during the challenging times of the Covid-19 lockdown in 2020, PCL Live, originally named Live Evolution, has transformed into a key player in the UK audio-visual sector. The company specializes in hire, installation, live streaming, and production, utilizing the latest AV technology to deliver exceptional service.
In 2022, PCL Live became part of a joint venture with PCL Group, an IT support and services company based in Aberdeen, further solidifying its position in the market.
Record sales and ambitious plans for the future
Adam Wilson describes the recent achievement of reaching £1 million in turnover as a “huge moment” for the company. He attributes this success to the dedication of his talented team and the loyalty of their clients. Since its inception, PCL Live has reinvested all profits back into the business, totaling over £500,000, to ensure they remain at the forefront of audio-visual technology and service delivery.
Looking ahead, Adam is focused on further growth and has recently promoted Alex Sherman to the role of commercial director to spearhead the company’s expansion strategy. Additionally, PCL Live is launching the Pathways programme, aimed at training and inspiring the next generation of audio-visual professionals, ensuring a sustainable future for the industry.
Innovative projects and industry accolades
PCL Live has been involved in delivering technical production and installation for a variety of high-profile projects across the UK. Noteworthy achievements include the creation of a world-first 163-inch LED touchscreen video wall and a comprehensive AV fit-out for Opportunity North East’s flagship SeedPod food and drink innovation hub. The company has also played a crucial role in events such as the Aberdeen & Grampian Chamber of Commerce’s Ultimate Masterclass Festival, which has featured prominent figures like Davina McCall and Gary Neville.
Adam emphasizes the importance of investing in both their people and equipment, stating, “We’ve invested heavily in our people and our kit, and that’s allowed us to compete with – and often outperform – larger firms. And we’re just getting started.” Recently, PCL Live was recognized at the Northern Star Business Awards, winning the customer service award, a testament to their commitment to excellence.
