Federal Student Aid
Description

Run by the US Department of Education, Federal Student Aid is the branch that evaluates the eligibility of students to receive federal student grants and other forms of aid.

Connections with higher education institutes

The organisation has formed connections with higher education institutions and others, so that all students who want a college education can receive it.
Every year, the organisation deals with millions of applications, and pays out billions of dollars in aids to schools across the United States.

FAFSA
Filling out a FAFSA

All students, who want to apply for federal loans must fill out a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). These forms can be found online on the FAFSA website or with a high school or college career counsellor.

Eligibility

The FAFSA evaluates whether a person is financially eligible to receive federal loans. It does this by looking at the taxes of the last year, and seeing if there is a deep financial need.

Students have to fill out the FAFSA form. He or she should request that the information be sent to his or her school of choices. The forms should be sent to the Federal Student Aid Office if it is not submitted online.

FAFSA pin

Students must apply for a FAFSA pin after they have filled out the FAFSA form. This number serves as an electronic signature for your work with Federal Student Aid. This can be done online or through the mail.

This pin allows students access to the report that Federal Student Aid creates for the student. Pupils should check to make sure that they turn in the forms on time.
Accepting award
Filing out paper-work

The Student Federal Aid Office will inform you and your school if you are eligible for any of the grants offered by the federal government. If you are, your grant can be accepted by filling out paper-work through your chosen institution of higher learning.

You can contact the school to learn what procedure they would like for you to use.
