UPDATE ON JOHN ALFORD’S CONVICTION
Former actor John Alford, known for his role in the BBC drama Grange Hill, has been convicted of sexually assaulting two minors during a party at a friend’s residence. The incidents took place on April 9, 2022, involving a 14-year-old and a 15-year-old girl.
Alford, 53, faced multiple charges, including four counts of sexual activity with the younger girl and additional charges related to the second victim.
Details of the Case
The St Albans Crown Court jury found Alford guilty of all charges after a week-long trial that included over 13 hours of deliberation.
As the verdicts were announced, Alford reacted emotionally, claiming, “Wrong, I didn’t do this” from the dock. The jury learned that Alford, who was using his real name John Shannon during the trial, assaulted the girls while they were intoxicated following a night out at a local pub.
All offenses occurred in the home of a third girl,
