A spokesperson stated, “Officers are investigating a video circulating which appears to show a protester making a violent threat against a political figure.” The police reiterated their commitment to addressing criminal behavior during protests.
Assistant Met Commissioner Matt Twist condemned the violence, referring to it as “wholly unacceptable.” Officers, who had prepared for a challenging day, faced hostility from a segment of the crowd. Twist noted, “The violence they faced was wholly unacceptable,” detailing the injuries sustained by officers, which included broken teeth and concussions.
