Actress Sienna Miller has listed her countryside home, known as Thatch, for sale at £1.95 million through Savills. Located in Buckinghamshire, this **Grade II-listed** property is described by Miller as her personal sanctuary.

The home features prominently in a 2022 Architectural Digest video, showcasing its stunning characteristics.

This half-timbered, thatched cottage is surrounded by wildflowers, creating a picturesque environment. Miller states, “It’s such a cozy house, but it really does work well in the summer as well.”

Thatch: A sanctuary with a rich history

Miller purchased Thatch in 2008 during a challenging period in her life.

“I bought this house when I was 25 in a moment of real panic,” she recalls, explaining her desire to escape London’s hustle for tranquility. Initially intending to rent, a single visit changed her mind. “I fell completely in love and bought it,” she shares.

This charming cottage dates back to the **16th century** and has seen various modifications over the years, including a 1970s extension that created a unique L-shaped layout. The home spans nearly 2,000 square feet, featuring five bedrooms and an external studio that enhances its quaint appeal. Despite her lighthearted remarks about its size, Miller affectionately calls it “the biggest tiny house you’ve ever seen,” likening it to a rabbit warren due to its unexpected spaces.

Refurbishing with a personal touch

During lockdown, Miller took the opportunity to personalize Thatch. With the assistance of friend Gaby Dellal, she transformed the interiors to reflect her style. “I’d inherited someone else’s vision and made it my own, but it was never quite right,” she explains. The renovations included a complete kitchen overhaul, now featuring a rosy pink hue and a **Lacanche range cooker**, aligning with Miller’s passion for cooking.

The kitchen also showcases **tiled herringbone flooring**, a classic white **Smeg fridge**, and original **Crittall doors** that open onto the garden—elements Miller values for their timeless elegance. “The new ones just don’t look like that,” she emphasizes, expressing her satisfaction with the updates.

A cozy retreat for family and friends

Thatch serves as a venue for creating lasting memories. The two inviting sitting rooms, adorned with wooden floors, low timber beams, and large brick hearths, are ideal for cozy gatherings. “It’s magical and cozy,” Miller describes her snug, where the family enjoys classic films during festive seasons. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, epitomizing the essence of a traditional English country cottage.

Four charming bedrooms await upstairs, including her daughter Marlowe’s room, which Miller likens to a scene from a Jane Austen novel. With its black-painted wooden walls and bright ceiling beams, it is a space rich in character. Miller’s own bedroom, located in the newer section of the house, provides a serene retreat with a freestanding bath, ensuite bathroom, and a private balcony overlooking the lush countryside.

Outdoor charm and additional features

Thatch is set within a larger private estate and is the only freehold cottage on the property, nestled on over half an acre of land. The outdoor area includes a beautiful garden, a tranquil pond, and a charming barbecue space. Additionally, there’s a **187-square-foot studio**, known as ‘The Outhouse’, which functions as a romantic guest suite complete with a bathroom and a wood burner, adorned with vintage signage.

While Miller has spent years alternating between the US and the UK, she returned to London after selling her West Village home for $5.3 million. “I was really in love with New York as a place, but since Covid, it just wasn’t the same,” she reflects. As she prepares to part with her beloved cottage, the property stands as a testament to her personal journey and style.
