Participate in a Comprehensive Football Short Course to Enhance Your Skills and Acquire Valuable Insights.

Topics covered
The Football Short Course provides a valuable opportunity for individuals to deepen their understanding and skills in football. Aimed at learners aged 13 and above, the course presents a range of challenges that not only focus on football but also promote personal, social, and employability skills.
It is delivered through flexible methods, adapting to the unique needs of each learner and accessible across various educational contexts.
Participants can opt to use the student book or access the course via Equitas, ASDAN’s digital learning platform. This flexibility allows learners to engage with the material in a manner that suits them best, whether in a traditional classroom setting or a more informal environment.
Course structure and modules
The structure of the Football Short Course consists of seven distinct modules, each focusing on a different aspect of football. These modules include:
- Football participation
- Health, fitness, and nutrition
- Researching football
- Football in the community
- Coaching and officiating
- The environment
- Working in football
Each module is tailored to develop specific skills and knowledge, enabling learners to focus on areas that interest them the most.
The course can be customized to cater to different skill levels, making it suitable for both beginners and those with prior experience.
Accessing the course
To participate in the course, each learner must secure an individual login for Equitas. This digital platform grants access to all course challenges and allows students to track their progress. For those who prefer a physical format, challenges can also be downloaded from the platform for direct use in lessons.
Meeting course requirements
To successfully complete the Football Short Course, learners must compile a well-organized portfolio or e-portfolio that highlights their achievements. This portfolio should include:
- A detailed record of completed challenges with supporting evidence
- Documentation outlining planning and reflections on activities
- A summary of achievements that emphasizes skill development
- A personal statement
- Feedback from tutors
While formal training to deliver the course is not mandatory, it is highly recommended for educators to attend an introductory workshop or webinar. This training ensures that instructors can effectively guide learners and maximize the benefits of the program.
Accreditation and credits
The Football Short Course is recognized for accrediting between 10 to 60 hours of activities, which can count as credits towards ASDAN’s Personal Development Programmes. Additionally, it supports skill development relevant to Personal Effectiveness Qualifications and can facilitate the recognition of prior learning when standards are met.
Obtaining certificates and support
After successful internal moderation of learners’ portfolios, instructors can confirm their students’ details and request certificates through the tutor portal. Certificates are available in two formats: a free downloadable PDF or a printed version for a nominal fee. These will be sent to the course coordinator within 20 days of the request.
ASDAN also offers ongoing support through expert-led training events that focus on effective delivery, assessment, and moderation of the course. Centers are encouraged to utilize these resources to ensure a successful learning experience for all participants.
