Empowering Visually Impaired Youth Through Inclusive Football Programs

Visually Impaired Football Program: Empowering Young Athletes Join our innovative football program tailored specifically for visually impaired youth, aimed at improving their skills, confidence, and overall quality of life. Our inclusive training sessions foster teamwork, physical fitness, and personal growth, ensuring every young athlete has the opportunity to excel on and off the field.

Participating in sports can change lives, especially for children and young people facing challenges. The Visually Impaired Football Program offers a unique opportunity for those aged 8–18 with vision impairment to engage in football within a supportive and inclusive environment.

Organized by the Rangers Charity Foundation, sessions take place every other Sunday at Super Soccer, Scotland Street in Glasgow.

This initiative provides tailored football sessions that focus on skill development while encouraging social interaction and physical fitness. It welcomes participants of all abilities, creating bonds of friendship among players and promoting a love for the game.

Benefits of participation

The program offers numerous benefits for everyone involved. Participants can enjoy:

  • Free football sessions customized to fit varying needs and abilities
  • Opportunities to enhance physical fitness
  • A chance to forge friendships with peers
  • Support for parents and caregivers to create their own networks

Each session is designed to be fun and engaging, with structured activities that foster teamwork, build confidence, and promote social inclusion.

This approach ensures that everyone can enjoy playing football while developing essential life skills.

Breaking down barriers

Many young individuals with vision impairment often encounter obstacles when participating in mainstream sports. The Visually Impaired Football Program aims to dismantle these barriers by:

  • Creating an atmosphere where individual abilities are celebrated
  • Encouraging physical activity and self-esteem
  • Providing a space for children and their families to connect and support one another

The program’s friendly and consistent format allows participants to return regularly, fostering enduring relationships and a sense of community over time.

Who can join?

The program is open to all children and young people aged 8–18 with a vision impairment, as well as their peers who wish to engage in an inclusive sporting environment. There are no fees associated with participation, and previous experience is not required. Simply show up and be part of the fun!
