France has registered a new record of Covid infections reaching a total of 30,621 only in the past 24 hours.
The number of deaths also rose to 33,125 and hospitalizations are also increasing. The French President Emmanuel Macron declared a public health state of emergency and ordered a nightly curfew in Paris and other cities. The curfews are to take effect every day starting from Saturday from 9 pm to 6 am.

Macron had already declared a state of emergency in March but then was lifted in July when covid cases lowered. The French President announced the country has not lost control of the virus but also admitted: “We have to react. ..We are in a worrying situation.”

“All of us have, within us, the possibility, by our behaviour, to protect us, to protect others and to slow the circulation of the virus.”
The head of the World Health Organisation (WHO) Europe office, Hans Kluge confirmed death rates could become “four to five times higher than those in April” by January if the government will fail in taking the situation seriously. He said about 280,000 people will be saved in Europe only if 95% of the total population wear masks and start following the stricter measures on social gatherings.
