2013 KTM 450 SX-F Factory Edition – Preview

In the wake of the success of the 2012 version – presented in December 2011 in the U.
S.
market and gone ’sold out’ in a matter of months – KTM introduces the new 2013 KTM 450 SX-F Factory Edition, which will be unleashed on the North American and European markets in a strictly limited edition (555 units for the U.

S.
and 155 on this side of the pond).
The new model has been developed in collaboration with the Red Bull KTM team – which led it to the title in the AMA Supercross premier category, the “450 Motocross National” class, with rider Ryan Dungey – and just one year after the launch of the first version it returns today on the market with significant technical improvements.

This Factory Edition 2013 is powered by a water-cooled 450 cc 4-stroke SOHC engine with upgraded electronic fuel injection, optimized for motocross duties.
Crankcase and clutch cover have been redesigned to minimize weight, while the elimination of the kick starter has allowed the Austrian engineers to save a further 0.
5 kg.
The 450 SX-F Factory Edition will come with a standard 5-speed gearbox in the US, whereas in Europe we will get a 4-speed transmission.

The model will also have a map switch for easy adjustment of the new ignition curves and an hour meter to help track time between maintenance intervals.
The debut is scheduled to coincide with the first round of the AMA Supercross 2013 (January 5 in Anaheim, California), then the model will hit dealerships in the same month with a price tag of € 10,450.
