With five Spanish riders in MotoGP and Spain’s new golden haired rider, Jorge Lorenzo, who seems to be on his way to taking the 2010 MotoGP Championship title, ten riders in Moto2 with Toni Elias leading in the the standings, eight riders in 125cc, and three Spaniards in the first three spots in the standings, you’d think that Spanish audiences would be more than happy to tune in to watch the races, right?Wrong.
Valentino Rossi crash at the Mugello seems to have effected not only viewers in Italy, which would be normal considering Rossi’s nationality, but Spain has also seen a fall in the MotoGP TV ratings.

The Spanish website however hasn’t published what the numbers were for Le Mans or Mugello, but if they’re writing about it, the numbers can’t be comforting.
Like we did, motoworld is chalking up these lower numbers to more people watching the FIFA World Cup instead of MotoGP, but since the Assen races take place on Saturday these numbers could change and if the rumour is true that Rossi may be returning for Laguna Seca, Dorna and TV channels can once again breathe and hope the numbers start climbing.
