As the couple congregated outside with other evacuees in the chilly conditions, Kevin Rae shared his worries about their neighbors. “We were really worried about the neighbors around us, so we were pleased to hear everyone seems to be okay,” he said. A spokesperson stated, “Around 8.05pm on Monday, January 20, police received a report of a fire within a block of flats at Aulton Court, Seaton Crescent, Aberdeen. Emergency services attended and the fire was extinguished. One person was taken by ambulance to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.” The investigation has seen police vehicles stationed outside the building, alongside a specialist clean-up crew, as residents reported a lingering smell of smoke throughout the middle floors.
