Brora Rangers, the champions of the Breedon Highland League, are gearing up for a crucial second leg in their pyramid play-off semi-final against East Kilbride. After suffering a 4-1 defeat in the first leg at K Park, the team is determined to mount a comeback at Dudgeon Park this Saturday.

James Wallace, a key player for the Cattachs, expressed the team’s unwavering belief in their ability to overturn the three-goal deficit.

Confidence in the face of adversity

Despite the challenging position, Wallace emphasized that the squad remains confident.

He noted that the team did not perform to their usual standards in the first leg and acknowledged the need for a significant improvement in their play. “We need to do the opposite to last weekend,” Wallace stated. “We need to be aggressive and on the front foot from the start.” The 24-year-old midfielder highlighted the importance of scoring at least three goals to have a chance of progressing to the final.

Brora’s attacking prowess

Throughout the season, Brora Rangers have demonstrated their attacking capabilities, netting an impressive 149 goals in 49 matches across all competitions. Wallace is optimistic that the team possesses the firepower necessary to achieve the goals required for a comeback. “Whatever way they come, if we were to score a few goals on Saturday, we’d take them,” he remarked. The team’s ability to respond to setbacks has been a hallmark of their season, and they are looking to channel that resilience once again.

Aiming for a strong finish

Even if Brora Rangers are unable to win the tie and advance to face Bonnyrigg Rose or Forfar Athletic, Wallace hopes to conclude the season on a positive note. The Cattachs have already made history by winning the treble, including the Highland League, the R Davidson (Banchory) Highland League Cup, and the North of Scotland Cup. “We need to restore a bit of pride,” Wallace stated, emphasizing the importance of ending the season with a strong performance. “If we don’t end up winning the tie, we need to at least give a good account of ourselves and show we can compete with sides like East Kilbride.”
