Expect significant road disruptions in Aberdeen as resurfacing works begin.

In a significant development for commuters in Aberdeen, the Danestone roundabout located in Bridge of Don is set to close for essential resurfacing works next week. This closure, part of a £7 million resurfacing program initiated by Aberdeen City Council, is expected to cause considerable disruption on one of the region’s major routes.

Details of the closure

The roundabout will be closed overnight starting from 6 PM on Monday, May 12, and will remain inaccessible until 6 AM for over ten consecutive days. The resurfacing works are anticipated to conclude by Friday, May 23.

During this period, all approaches to the roundabout, which is situated on the A92, will be blocked, including access points at Balgownie Road, Fairview Street, and Valentine Road. Additionally, the entrance to the Cala Homes works on the west side of the Parkway will also be closed as part of the ongoing Mains of Grandhome development.

Access arrangements during the works

Despite the extensive closures, access will be maintained to the Buckie Farm pub and restaurant from the eastern approach, ensuring that patrons can still reach the popular venue. Aberdeen City Council has emphasized the importance of these resurfacing works, which are aimed at improving road safety and traffic flow in the area.

Community response and alternative routes

Aberdeen City Council has taken to social media to inform residents about the impending disruptions. A post on Facebook stated, “We apologize for any inconvenience and diversion routes in place. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.” The council is urging drivers to plan their journeys accordingly and consider alternative routes to minimize delays.

As the city prepares for this significant infrastructure upgrade, residents and commuters are encouraged to stay informed about the progress of the works and any changes to traffic conditions. The council’s proactive communication aims to alleviate concerns and ensure a smoother transition during the construction period.
