Celebrities wear lace front wigs for their television and movie appearances. International superstars like Beyonce, Jessica Alba, Miley Cyrus, and Rhianna frequently change hair colour, length, and texture. Here are some tips on how to wear celebrity wigs.
Look for lace wigs in local beauty supply stores and online wig shops. The most important thing to look for while shopping is the right hair texture. After the texture has been selected move onto the desired length, style, and colour.
Wearing a wig so that it appears to be growing naturally has a bit of a learning curve. The lace wig does not have to be glued down in order to be worn. Select a wig cap that is the colour of the scalp. A queen sized knee high can be substituted for a wig cap. Extremely thick hair may have to be braided underneath the wig. Put the wig on, and line up the ear tabs directly on top of each ear. Adjust the hair line until it looks natural.
If the wig is to be worn on vacation or for a special event, consider gluing down the wig. The lace on the wig should be soft and flexible. Carefully cut the lace down from its original size. Use an adhesive like Ms Lola’s to secure the wig around the hair line and the nape of the neck. Higher quality lace front wigs will have lace around the majority of the perimeter and throughout the body of the wig.
This allows for the hair to be parted without being able to see the stitched hair tracks within the wig.
Another option for securing a lace wig is to use large bobby pins near the ears and neck. This method only works if there is hair underneath the wig to hold the bobby pin in place.
Inexpensive synthetic wigs are great to practice wearing and styling. A human hair wig should be seen as an investment that can last for several years. Use these tips when wearing lace front wigs.
