This technique allows you to combine multiple alerts into a single incident, making it easier to pinpoint the root cause and gauge the By merging incidents, you create a cohesive stream of information that reduces confusion and clarifies the situation for everyone involved.

How to Merge Incidents in the Web Application

In the web application, merging incidents can be accomplished in two main areas: theIncidents Pageand the details page of an individual incident. To merge incidents from the Incidents Page, simply check the boxes next to the alerts you want to combine and click on theMerge Incidentsoption. A window will pop up, allowing you to select a primary incident under which all alerts will be grouped.

If you’d rather merge incidents directly from an incident’s details page, select the incident you wish to merge, click onMore, and chooseMerge with Another Incident. Just enter the incident number you want to merge with and follow the prompts to finalize the process.

Managing Incidents on the Go with the Mobile App

The mobile app is a fantastic tool for managing incidents right from your device. On the Open Incidents screen, simply tap the icon in the corner to choose the incidents you want to merge. After selecting the relevant incidents, confirm the merge to consolidate notifications under the primary incident.

Keep in mind that the total number of alerts in a merged incident cannot exceed1,000. If the combined alerts surpass this limit, the merge won’t be successful. Once merged, the other incidents will be marked as resolved, with the reason noted asmerged.

Addressing Alerts After Merging

If you find that an alert was merged incorrectly, don’t worry—there are ways to fix it. You can either move the alert to a new incident or reassign it to an existing one. To do this, navigate to the alerts section in the incident’s details page, select the alert in question, and choose theMoveoption. Here, you’ll be able to either create a new incident or assign the alert to another existing one.

Enhancing Incident Clarity Through Editing

As incidents develop, it’s often necessary to refine their details for greater clarity. You can edit key elements such as the incident title, priority, and urgency. To change the title, simply click on it in the details page, hitEdit, and enter a more descriptive title that accurately reflects the situation at hand.

Updating theincident priorityis also crucial, especially if the severity of an incident escalates. By adjusting the priority level, you ensure that urgent issues receive the attention they deserve.
