Play a hands-on role in delivering EURO 2028 with UK Sport, supporting programme coordination, governance and stakeholder engagement across a high-profile event

The EURO 2028 Project Officer role sits within UK Sport, the organisation charged with driving elite sporting success across the UK. UK Sport combines Government and National Lottery investment to back Olympic and Paralympic sports and to support major events coming to these shores.
The organisation’s purpose is to lead high-performance sport so that athletes, teams and events can create memorable moments for the nation. In this context, the EURO 2028 programme is a major delivery priority and the Project Officer will contribute directly to planning and coordination activities for the tournament across the UK & Ireland.
Role overview and practical details
This fixed-term, full-time role is offered at a salary of £41,000 and will run until September 2028. The post is flexible in location and candidates can be based in Loughborough, London or Manchester, combined with regular remote working.
The position is listed as a fixed term contract — a defined-duration appointment focused on delivering a discrete programme of work. The vacancy closes on 26 April 2026 and the first interview stage will take place in the week commencing 4 May, with a second stage during the week commencing 13 May. A key interview date is scheduled for 4 May 2026.
What you will do day to day
Working under the direction of the EURO 2028 Programme Manager, you will provide high-quality project and programme support across a fast-moving portfolio. Typical duties include coordinating planning activity, maintaining reports and trackers, supporting governance forums, and helping to manage programme risks and issues. You will prepare meeting papers, keep action logs current and support decision-making processes so the programme maintains momentum. Effective stakeholder engagement is central to the role: you will help connect internal teams and external partners to ensure activities are aligned and delivered to agreed standards.
Team relationships and stakeholders
The role is collaborative: you will work closely with the internal EURO 2028 team, the Programme Manager and colleagues across UK Sport, while building productive working relationships with external partners involved in delivering the tournament. These connections will span sporting bodies, government departments and event delivery partners. Your contribution will be to make sure the programme’s operational and governance arrangements are organised, transparent and tracked, so decisions can be made with confidence and the project can meet its public-facing commitments.
Who we are looking for
We seek someone who enjoys making complex programmes run smoothly. You should bring experience supporting projects or programmes in busy, multi-stakeholder environments and be confident juggling competing priorities. Practical skills we value include producing governance papers, maintaining action logs, supporting risk management and tracking progress against plans. You will be organised, proactive and accurate in your work, with the ability to communicate clearly and remain calm under pressure. Above all, you should be motivated by being part of a high-profile programme and by contributing positively to UK Sport’s mission.
Attributes that make you successful
Strong candidates will enjoy teamwork, problem solving and stakeholder liaison. The role rewards attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality outputs: accurate reports, timely updates and well-prepared governance materials. If you value collaborative working, can present information clearly and take pride in delivering excellent administrative and programme support, you will fit well with the team. Experience of working on major events or within high-performance sport environments is advantageous but not essential if you can demonstrate transferable project skills.

Contract and practical notes
This is a fixed-term appointment lasting to September 2028, and it is offered on a full-time basis. The role requires flexibility and may involve interaction with partners across the UK & Ireland, so a readiness to travel occasionally and to work with remote teams will be important. If you want a role that combines operational programme work with the opportunity to influence a major sporting event, this post with UK Sport offers a substantive, high-visibility opportunity to contribute to EURO 2028 delivery.
