US, Biden administration to hand out 100m vaccinations all over US during the first 100 days of presidency.

The plan is quite ambitious but achievable. Within the first 100 days of his presidency, Joe Biden will attempt to distribute 100m vaccinations all over US starting from January 20th.

As said, the distribution is challenging but not far from reach. Helen Branwell, infection diseases and global health reporter defined the plan as “potentially realistic”, but the success will depend both on the availability of the vaccine supplies and on the beginning of President Trump vaccination programme.

The journalist knows that a vaccination plan is bumpy, but she trustes that by the time Biden will enter the White House “some of those bumps may have been levelled out a bit”.

To give an idea, 51,8% of Americans (160m) have been vaccinated against flu in the period between July 2019 and May 2020. In the meanwhile, UK started the first approved rollout of vaccine.

The outgoing president also commented the vaccine approvals referring to it as a “miracle”. “Every American who wants the vaccine will be able to get the vaccine and we think by spring we’re going to be in a position nobody would have believed possible just a few months ago”.

Trump administration signed up for an initial 100m doses of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine. They also tried tu buy more, but their request was denied since more doses might not available until June. However, FDA is expected to approve Moderna vaccine before Christmas. As of today, US recorded 15m Covid cases and 285.000 deaths, both global highs.
