Making a roof on your own
Making a roof involves complex set of activities and needs meticulous detailing and knowledge of raw material to be used in making it. The three fundamental parts of making a roof include the material, construction and durability. And of course, as much of possible, we can try to build it green! A roof consists of two major parts that are the supporting structure and the outer skin or the uppermost weatherproof layer which at times comes in the form of self-supporting structure.

The uppermost weatherproof layer often gets support from walls or poles erected for the purpose. Depending upon the kind of roof, the accessories are required. For instance for wooden roof a number of nails small and big are required; however, a plastic or fibre or metal roof would need screws and nuts.
Positive points
When you make a roof on your own, you save lots of money and get the roof the way it was desired to be.

Thus, using the available roofing materials and local roof design concepts, you can make a roof that is durable and serves the intended purpose. The crucial design with respect to raw material should be done before hand wherein you have choices such as banana leaves, wheaten straw or sea grass, laminated glass, aluminium sheeting, precast concrete, etc. to choose from to make a roof.
Negative points
Roofing construction it is a complex process that requires lots of dedication and commitment from the person. Moreover, technical know-how does not necessarily guarantees success in making a roof for it requires the knowledge of local climatic conditions and expected roof usage. Moreover, it requires several other supporting persons.
