WSBK Misano: Carlos Checa back on top in warm-up, Rea crashes

World Superbike warm-up practice at sunny Misano saw Carlos Checa regain the top of the timesheets followed by Ayrton Baldovini and Michel Fabrizio ahead of the this afternoon’s races, however the session was red flagged after Jonathan Rea crashed at turn 11 and suffered a concussion.

Rea who qualified 11th in yesterday’s Superpole and already carrying an elbow injury that required stitches is currently in the hospital for scans and is expected to be ruled out of this round.

Noriyuki Haga was fourth in front of the Effenbert Liberty Racing duo Jakub Smrz and Sylvain Guintoli.

Max Biaggi was seventh despite nursing a small fracture in the cartilage of the astragalus that he picked up after crashing in yesterday’s Superpole session.
Closing out the top ten were Leon Haslam, pole man Tom Sykes and Marco Melandri.
