Dorna again opens doors to Suzuki return

Dorna has once again reiterated that Suzuki can make their return to MotoGP in 2014, but it’s not like they are also rolling out the red carpet for the Japanese manufacturer.
Suzuki pulled out of MotoGP at the end of 2011 with promises to return in 2014, and so far they’ve showed interest in keeping their promise, but under certain conditions, like returning for just a year and then checking out their competitiveness and not using the spec ECU that will be made mandatory in 2014, demands that Dorna is not willing to concede to.

Suzuki representatives were at Sepang on Wednesday and talking again about their return and Dorna’s Managing Director of Events, Javier Alonso in an interview with the official MotoGP website confirmed the continuing talks, “They are visiting us, they are having a look, and we’ve offered them the possibility to test whenever they would be ready to test, and this is what they are studying right now, the possibilities, and how they want to continue with their programme.

”Whether Suzuki is still willing to make a comeback after this new meeting remains to be seen, as Alonso added, “They are still working on the decision, they are working on the project, and I think they have some important meetings after this… we have our doors open for them.

”However one of the clauses for Suzuki’s will be that they have to have to rely on already exsisting team structure, due to an already full grid, “The situation is that we have a full crowded grid and of course we commit with the teams that are here with us today, and they will keep the right to continue to be there.
Therefore if everybody wants to continue and Suzuki wants to come back they will have to reach an agreement with one of those teams,” continued Alonso.
In pole position according to rumors to support Suzuki’s effort, is Jorge Martinez’s Aspar team as Randy de Puniet is reported to be very close to signing a 2013 testing deal with the factory, with Aspar’s approval, even if Davide Brivio was briefly linked to run the team.
