WSBK Assen: Jonathan Rea pips Smrz in QP2

The second qualifying Superbike practice saw Jakub Smrz continue to dominate in the 45 minute session only to have Jonathan Rea snatch the first spot from him with a last lap lunge and break the Effenbert Liberty Racing Ducati rider’s first day stranglehold at the Dutch circuit.

Max Biaggi was third followed by Troy Corser and Noriyuki Haga.

Sixth went to Leon Haslam and sliding slight down the chart was Marco Melandri in seventh.
Michel Fabrizio fighting a stomach bug was able to stay in the top 10, with his eighth spot, followed by points leader Carlos Checa, who hasn’t really shone in these last two qualifying practices.

Ruben Xaus was tenth and a little more than six tenths of a second from his Castrol Honda team mate.
Out of the Superpole action will be Maxime Berger (Ducati Supersonic Racing), Chris Vermeulen (Kawasaki Racing Team) who finally was able to ride an entire session, and the Kawasaki Pedercini duo Roberto Rolfo and Mark Aitchison.
