Robertino Pietri to wild card in MotoGP for Avintia Racing

After spending two seasons with Italtrans in Moto2 (and picking up a single point), 26-year old Robertino Pietri will be making the leap to the premier class after reaching an agreement with CRT Avintia Racing (formerly known as BQR) to compete in five MotoGP races as a wildcard.

Pietri tested the FTR/Kawasaki MotoGP bike at Valencia last November and will be taking part in the upcoming Sepang test next week and thanks to the financial backing from the Venezuelan Ministry of Sport who made his wild card partecipation possible.

“It’s great to be able to race in MotoGP, I’d like to thank the Ministry of Sport for the support that they’ve given us and helping this project happen,” said Pietri.
“Thanks to the experience in Moto2, I already know all the circuits, even if won’t be easy to be immediately confident with a 1000cc.
We hope that by 2014 we’ll be able have a competitive program and do well in MotoGP.
”No doubt that Pietri’s wildcard rides will not come as a big surprise to Avintia’s Yonny Hernandez who is lamenting financial difficulties in order to keep his place in the team.
