A jury of 37 experts voted the Ducati 1199 Panigale the “best-of-the-best” within the product design category in the 2013 Red Dot awards.
The Red Dot awards are one of the biggest and most prestigious international design competitions, and the awards ceremeny was held at the Aalto Theater in Essen, Germany, on Monday, and the event was attended by more than 1,200 international guests.
Designers, architects and companies from 54 countries submitted almost 4,700 of their best products in 19 different categories this year, and a panel awarded the Red Dot for excellent product design to a total of 1,065 products and the Honourable Mention for especially refined detail solutions to 205 products.
The Best of the Best is the highest award in the competition, it was given to 57 winners with the Panigale taking the top prize in the product design category.
The Panigale will be display at the Red Dot Museum in Westfalen, Germany for four weeks and then for an exhibition in Taiwan, and then will go on dispay at the Red Dot Design Museum in Singapore for a year.
Andrea Ferraresi, Ducati Design Center Director said, “The red dot ‘best of the best’ award acknowledges all the hard work put in by everyone at Ducati R&D for over three years.
Moreover, joining the ranks of the award’s top winners has made this product – and Ducati – part of product design history.
Every single component has been designed to be performance-oriented and function-specific.
Together, all these components form a harmonious, light, visually stunning product.
