BMW K 1300 R: the most powerful naked

BMW has had a busy time at the Intermot show with presentations of the new K 1300 S, the S1000RR Superbike, while also releasing details of the rest of the renewed K series.
We take a final look at the K 1300 R, the naked version of the powerful four cylinder BMW.

This is one of the most performance driven nakeds on the market.
It has 173hp and all the best aspects of the 1300 S.
While the R shares some of the S technology, it has undergone plenty of modifications required for a naked bike.

And the step on from the previous model becomes a big one.
While it’s a hefty-looking bike, the step up in riding style should give greater agility, while maintaining the stability that this model is famous for.
After the jump, details from BMW.
Respect! Action hero or simply the most powerful serial production naked bike: the BMW K 1200 R.
If you put spurs to this beast, you not only zoom from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.
9 seconds but also from 60 to 140 km/h in 7.
1 seconds – a podium position is guaranteed! Not only does it have 163 bhp and 127 Nm, but also one of the most state-of-the-art high performance engines with 1200 cc and 4 cylinders.

The 6-speed transmission always provides the right connection – plenty of punch at low engine speeds or a full guttural sound at 10,000 rpm: the in-line 4-cylinder engine is almost bursting with power.
This macho is a come-on even when stationary: or where else have you seen such lines and such muscles? Just look at the tank and seat line, the rear and the surface finish from matt black to metallic silver.
Then there’s the chassis: BMW Motorrad Duolever front-wheel suspension as standard, BMW Motorrad Paralever at the rear.
Optionally available: Electronic Suspension Adjustment (ESA) and BMW Motorrad ABS – to ensure supreme performance when decelerating too.
Incidentally, on your test ride you’ll see what we mean by respect fairly quickly if you watch the reaction of other road users… EngineType Water-cooled 4-stroke in-line four-cylinder engine, two camshafts, four valves per cylinderBore x stroke 79 mm x 59 mmCapacity 1,157 ccRated output 120 kW (163 hp) at 10,250 rpmMax.
