The second free practice at Laguna Seca was much more warmer and sunny and track temperatures were decidely higher this afternoon and lap times didn’t drop as much as expected, but it was Jorge Lorenzo who took over the lead, hammering out fast lap after fast lap and posted a 1.

22.
056 which put him on the top of the chart early in the session and leaving all three Repsol Honda’s behind him.

Dani Pedrosa was again very fast and he finished in 2nd and just 0.
141s from his Yamaha rival.
Casey Stoner suffered a big moment at turn 3 when he almost lost the front of his Honda, but the Australian saved it and he finished the session in third and managed to improve his lap time only on his final run and was adrift by only 0.
175s.
Andrea Dovizioso finished in fourth, bettering his postion from this morning and moved up the chart by one spot.

Ben Spies was fifth and half a second slower than his team mate.
Marco Simoncelli was sixth.
Apparently those front end problems that he had in the earlier session haven’t been completely solved.

With the higher temperatures the Rizla Suzuki once again looked impressive and Alvaro Bautista took the seventh spot and was exactly one second slower than Lorenzo.
Pramac’s Randy de Puniet was the fastest Ducati rider in eighth followed by Yamaha’s video superstar Colin Edwards.
Nicky Hayden closed out the session in 10th.
Using the GP11.
1, he finished ahead of his more titled team mate Valentino Rossi by a little more than a tenth of second, and that was no doubt a slap in the face for the Italian who has spent more time on that bike.
Rossi has decided to leave the GP11 in mothballs and stick with GP11.
1 for the rest of the weekend.
Cal Crutchlow had some difficulties coming to grips with the famed Corkscrew in both sessions and he finished in 13th.
Ben Bostrom was still last, adrift from the top of the chart by 4.
1s, but he shaved off a big 1 second from FP1; definitely a big improvement for someone who saddled a MotoGP bike for the first time just this morning.
