MotoGP Indianpolis: Casey Stoner tops the chart in FP1

Casey Stoner lead the top of the charts in today’s MotoGP free practice at the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
The Ducati rider using the new 2011 Öhlins forks was the only rider to go under the 1.
41 mark and precisely his best lap was 1′40″884 and that was enought to leave Jorge Lorenzo now known as Iron Man, in second and a little more than two tenths from the Australian.

The third spot went to Nicky Hayden who is still nursing a chipped radius from his Brno qualifying crash, lowsided again with 13 minutes left in the session, and was seen holding his left hand again, but it seems he didn’t aggravate his injury.

Dani Pedrosa and Valentino Rossi were fourth and fifth respectively and both struggled through out the hour session.
Pedrosa was able to move up the time chart with eight minutes to go while Rossi was going through front end problems on his M1 could manage the fifth spot only on his very last run and this doesn’t bode well for his weekend.
Colin Edwards took sixth and Andrea Dovizioso was seventh.

Ben Spies who will be in the Yamaha factory team next season, ran as high up as first and stayed in the top four for most of the session and was lighting up another red light on the charts when he was caught out by a lowside and his best time left him in eighth.
Completing the top ten were Aleix Espargaro in ninth and Marco Melandri in tenth.
Hirosh Aoyama and Randy de Puniet who are both recovering from their serious injuries were 16th and 17th.
