The world of show jumping witnessed an exhilarating performance at Spruce Meadows in Calgary, Alberta, on June 26, 2026. The Canadian Utilities Cup 1.55m competition, part of the prestigious Pan American event, saw 63 horse-and-rider combinations vie for the top spot.
The competition served as the final qualifying round for the upcoming AON Grand Prix presented by Rolex.
The course, designed by FEI Course Designer Anderson Lima of Mexico, was a formidable challenge. Only 13 combinations managed to secure a spot in the jump-off round by completing a fault-free round within the 80-second time limit.

Their flawless round, completed in a blistering 40.64 seconds, left all the rails intact and secured them the victory.
Coyle’s winning time was more than one second faster than the second-place finishers, Lillie Keenan of the USA and her horse Kick On. Rounding out the podium in third place was Coyle’s fellow Irishman, Conor Swail riding Clonterm Obolensky.

Reflecting on his return to Spruce Meadows in 2026, Coyle shared his admiration for the venue. “I could go on for days about what I love about Spruce Meadows, but everybody kind of knows that now. The biggest thing for me here is that I get to know my horses even better, my younger ones especially, and my older horses that I know so well,” he remarked.
Coyle highlighted the unique characteristics of the arena, stating, “This arena and this place is very unique and you don’t just ride like you ride everywhere else, it’s two gears faster and the jumps are twice as long as they are anywhere else.” This sentiment underscores the distinctive challenges and opportunities that Spruce Meadows presents to riders and horses alike.
