After four to five months all participants lost approximately 10% of their starting body weight. Liver fat decreased by 67% in the ketogenic group, compared to 45% in the other two groups. Additionally, the ketogenic diet led to a 20% reduction in 24-hour blood glucose measurements, while the other diets saw only an 8% reduction.

One of the most surprising findings was that participants on the ketogenic diet did not experience an increase in blood fat or cholesterol levels, despite consuming the most fat.
