The Health Secretary confirmed that people under 30s will get Covid-19 jabs this week. Matt Hancock said that vaccines had “separated but not destroyed” the link between a rise in cases and a rise in the number of people being let to hospital.
Even the figures showed that the majority of people who go to the hospital are unvaccinated, he added.
“This week we will be opening up vaccines to the under-30s. We are getting a step closer to the time when we have been able to give the vaccine to all grown-ups in this country.”
Mr Hancock also mentioned that once everybody had second doses, everyone will get protection completely from the whole adult population. So, UK can reclaim freedom and get out of the pandemic.
However, the timing is still the big question.
Meanwhile, the figures showed that a further 5,765 lab-confirmed cases of Covid-19 had been reported in the UK. It means cases climbed up 70 per cent in just one week. With that, the easing of all restriction on June 21 still called into mystery.
Mr Hancock also said the Government is “not telling no June 21” but that it’s “too quick” to decide whether it will be reasonable to lift all legal restrictions from then.
He also revealed about Delta variant is around 40 per cent more transmissible than the Kent. It means, managing Delta is more complicated. However, after two doses of vaccines, the government optimist that people will get the same security as the old variant.
