The capital city of India was shaken by a fatal fire that engulfed a restaurant in the busy Malviya Nagar neighbourhood. According to officials, the blaze at the Lemon Green Restaurant began early on a weekday morning and rapidly spread through the multi-storey building, resulting in the confirmed deaths of at least 18 people.
Emergency responders received the first call at around 9.45am and dispatched multiple units to the scene.
Firefighters and medical teams worked under difficult conditions to retrieve survivors and control the inferno. Authorities have taken the injured to nearby hospitals; at least 11 people were pulled from the building alive and are receiving treatment for serious injuries, including severe burns.
Local officials warn that the death toll could increase as more victims are treated and identified.
