Simple DIY Projects

Having a scented home can help you create a unique atmosphere. However, you don’t have to resort to industrial environment perfumers, which often contain chemicals that are both polluting and harmful to health. Fortunately, it is possible to perfume your home with natural ingredients.

Flowers, spices or aromatic herbs are all you need to create simple DIY projects for this purpose.

Diffuser with Cotton Ball

Pour a few drops of your favorite essence into a cotton ball. Then put the ball in a container, without closing it, in the room you want to perfume.

Leave it in the room for four hours. When the aroma is gone, repeat the procedure with a new cotton ball.

Simple DIY Projects with Soap Leftovers

When the soap gets too small, we replace it with a new one. If you don’t know how to recycle leftovers, make an air freshener. Grate them or cut them into small pieces, then arrange them in cloth or organza bags. They are great for perfuming clothes and linen.

Scented Pout-Pourri

You can also use cloth bags to make pout-pourri. Fill them with lavender flowers, sage leaves or other plants you like. At this point, put them in wardrobes and drawers. You can also place them on windows and furniture to spread the scent throughout the house. For a relaxing scent in the bedroom, put liquorice and vanilla berries or dried cloves and rose petals in a nice basket.

Reusing Citrus Peels and Pine

A very simple remedy to perfume the whole house is to reuse citrus peels. Peel oranges, lemons, tangerines and cut the peels into strips. Leave them on the heaters on and you will smell the scent!

If you have a fireplace at home, try to burn some rosemary sprigs and some pine needles together with the wood. If you like, add a few cinnamon sticks. It is ideal for colder evenings.

Simple DIY Projects: Home Spray

Finally, here is an idea to make a home spray. Bring a cup of water to the boil and add citrus peel to taste, a vanilla berry, a handful of cloves and a few cinnamon sticks. Filter the liquid, add a tablespoon of vodka and put it in a spray container. Spray the infusion into the rooms of your house.

One last piece of advice. Perfume is fine, but never forget to ventilate the rooms by opening the windows at least 10-15 minutes a day. This will allow you to reduce the concentration of other indoor sources of pollution!
