Ben Spies and the 2012 Yamaha YZF-R1 (w/video)

Yamaha recently updated their Superbike, the YZF– R1 while on the inside the engine is the same 998cc inline four with the crossplane crankshaft that first debuted on the 2009 model, but now they’ve added a traction control system (seven levels of TC, with 21 settings which will be available when combined with the the three-level “Drive Mode” system) developed from their MotoGP racing program, while on the outside they’ve carried out very bland, almost unnoticeable makeover.

To launch 2012 R1 in its 50th Special Edition Anniversary livery (only 2000 units with these colours will be available worldwide) Yamaha Europe has MotoGP rider Ben Spies in this video showing off and showing up other riders with his updated R1.
