Suzuki releases images and details of its deeply renovated RM-Z bikes for the year 2013, more specifically the 250 and 450 cc, which will come with several substantial changes affecting both the engine and the chassis.
According to the Hammamatsu-based manufacturer, their new weapons for the MX1 and MX2 classes will have better acceleration, a more direct and rapid throttle response and more torque at the mid-range than the outgoing generation, which was launched in 2011.

The piston is all new, redesigned on the basis of their racing experience is now considerably lighter than the previous one (13% for the 450, 8% for the 250) although they would be equal in stiffness.
Besides, the 250 will also receive also an all-new 5-speed gearbox.
More upgrades have been used in the radiator area as new fins and different paths for coolant will help stabilize the operating temperature of the vehicle and, by extension, the overall performance of both the 250 and 450.

This move should also improve the accessibility of the engine of the 250 cc version during maintenance operations.
The battery-less ECU that controls the injection system can now rely on a more powerful and fast microprocessor which will also help to improve the response accuracy of the accelerator.

The control unit is now completely waterproof too, improveing the overall reliability of the new RM-Zs.
The chassis has been subjected to several changes too, though not as deep and pervasive as those performed on the engine.
Frame and rear subframe have been revised in both structure and external shape – although Suzuki did not reveal much more about that apart from mentioning a better compromise between agility and stability.
Different story for the suspension: the two 2013 models will come with the brand new 48 mm Showa SFF (Separate Function Fork), which separates elastic and hydraulic functions by placing the spring in the right leg and the cartridge in the left one.
The rear linkage has been modified too in order to adjust its response to the brightest engine and to the changes performed on the front-end.
