WSBK Misano: Troy Corser takes maiden pole for BMW

Troy Corser took his first pole position for the BMW team in today’s Superpole shoot-out at Misano.
The Australian pole specialist (his 43rd) and two times World Superbike champion blazed a lap around the Misano Adriatico circuit to finish in a stratospheric 1′35.
001 in the the third stint.
No other rider could come close to this lap time, infact Max Biaggi, who was celebrating his 39th birthday took second place on the grid, but was five tenths slower, but has an excellent race pace that bodes well for tomorrow’s races.

Third went to Michel Fabrizio, who is trying to raise the bar on his dismal season but he didn’t finish well when he crashed after the chequered flag on the warm down lap.
Cal Crutchlow seemed to be heading for another superpole after his excellent QP1, but could only finish fourth, but he’s on the first row.
The second row will see Carlos Checa in fifth ahead of Sylvain Guintoli, who out-qualifyed his team-mate Haslam for the first time this season.

Leon Haslam will be taking off in seventh and will have to get a good start to try to stay with rival Max Biaggi.

Eighth went Luca Scassa, who entered the final stint for the first time for his Ducati Supersonic Racing team.
Noriyuki Haga will start ninth, in front of Ducati privateers Jakub Smrz and Lorenzo Lanzi.
Row four is all British, with James Toseland, Leon Camier, Shane Byrne and Jonathan Rea in 13th, 14th, 15th and 16th respectively.
