Mass motorcycle protest in France

You can push people only so far before they decide to let you know that they are not happy with certain government proposals in the matter of road safety policies as the French Minister of Interiors Claude Guént found out on Saturday June 18th.

100,000 motorcyclists organized by the Fédération Française des Motards en Colère (FFMC – French Federation of Angry Bikers) took to the roads all over France on Saturday blocking traffic to protest against a series of these new proposed measures that targets motorcyclists, which inlude:- mandatory wearing of a fluorescent yellow high-viz vests at all times;- force all bikers to change their registration plates for larger ones;- no lane splitting;- the removal of warning signs for radar speed traps;- the ban on radar detectors and other measures that warn of speed traps;- additional training if a rider hasn’t used a motorcyle for five years or more Some of the new sanctions include: a 30.

Jail time for those caught doing more than 50km over the speed limit.
