The Monza Rally Show was an occasion for Valentino Rossi to have a little fun after an extremely disappointing 2011 season.
The Italian MotoGP rider has always passionate about four wheels and despite being linked to a hypothetical F1 career in the past, his second love after motorcycle racing has always been rallies.
Speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport Rossi said, “I’m happy, it was one of my best rallies, even if I had won it the past.
Getting ahead of Loeb in two specials really turned me on.
” He again mentioned that driving rally cars could be his future when he retires, “I’ll do a few more years in MotoGP, then I’d race in rallies : these machines are really fun to drive because they have less electronics.
”Asked about what he thought about the CRTs that will be on the grid in 2012 (Casey Stoner believes they’ll kill prototype racing, Jorge Lorenzo understands the necessity and Randy de Puniet went from ‘I’d rather stay home’ to signing with Aspar’s CRT team), Rossi commented, “With the withdrawal of Suzuki, MotoGP will have only 12 bikes It’s a little sad and it’s clear that we must use less expensive bikes and if this is the only way I wouldn’t have problems riding a CRT, although no one is excited by this.
