WSBK Brno: Carlos Checa fastest in QP1

Carlos Checa moved to the top of the time sheets in this afternoon’s provisional pole session at Brno.
The Althea rider layed down a 1′59.
322 lap that was almost a second and half faster than his morning lap time leaving Effenbert-Liberty Ducati rider Jakub Smrz adrift by more than two tenths of a second.

Yamaha duo Marco Melandri and Eugene Laverty took third and fourth respectively, while reigning World Champion was fifth with a last lap lunge.
Tom Sykes was sixth and he too used his final lap to propel himself into the spot.

Leon Haslam was seventh followed by Michel Fabrizio’s Alstare Suzuki.
Sylvain Guintoli took the ninth spot and the last rider to be within a seconf of the flying Checa.
Ayrton Badovini (BMW Motorrad Italia) closed out the top ten Leon Camier was 11th after a technical problem dropped him down the charts in last minutes of the session.
While JamesToseland who opted out of the weekend, and stand-in Lorenzo Lorenzo Lanzi took 14th.
Alex Lowes (Castrol Honda) crashed at the beginning of the session at turn 8, was just 21st.
