Concept Tier Motorsport based on Yamaha R1

Revolutionising the world of two wheels is a difficult task: and in this case we see how hard it can be to design a new front suspension which provides an alternative to the widespread fork in use on most motorcycles.

BMW just about pulled this off with its K 1300 and the duolever, in more niche products, Bimota and Vyrus have also designed different front suspension, with an oscillating double swing arm system.

And Elf X produced a successful racing alternative with the Britten V1000.

Now Tier Motorsport has tried, developing a concept on the base of the R1 with single side swing arm and monoshock.
Benefits would seem to be similar to the double swing arm from the Bimota Tesi, though perhaps less convincing.
Unless there’s some kind of revolution in suspension technology, for the moment, we’re happy to keep our telescopic fork and its upside-down development.
