Marco Simoncelli who was bombarded by cat calls from the crowd everytime he left his garage, tried to match Stoner’s lap times, but was left 0.

Andrea Dovizioso moved into third with a last lap lunge taking the spot from Jorge Lorenzo, who sat out most of the session to return to track with fourteen minutes left and took the fourth spot with just 9 laps on his Yamaha M1.
The first four riders on the provisional grid all improved their lap times from FP1.
Ben Spies also did a last lap lunge to grab fifth, while Valentino Rossi was sixth and a massive 2 seconds from Stoner’s astonishing lap times.
Yamaha’s Tech3 rookie Cal Crutchlow was seventh, while his team mate Colin Edwards crashed out at turn 5 with seven minutes to go and had to be stretchered out.
Edwards has now been diagnosed with a right collarbone fracture.
Closing out the top ten were Hiroshi Aoyama, Nicky Hayden and Alvaro Bautista.
