Catalina Island Grand Prix electric race suggestion

While there are no official rumours or news whatsoever that the Catalina Island Grand Prix would go electric, a comment left on the Kneeslider caught our attention and we think it wouldn’t be a bad initiative at all.
The Isle of Man TT Zero has proved that electric motorcycle racing can be just as crowd pleasing (and hair raising given the speeds) as any other GP bike event, and if the Catalina Island Grand Prix also has to respect the island’s environment, an electric race could be the perfect marriage.

The Catalina Island GP ran from 1952 to 1958 and will be revived as an initial one-off event this year from December 3-5.
These vintage pics show some of the action from the 1950’s and the event this year should provide a boost to tourism on the island – you’d best book now, though, because it looks like this revival GP will be quite popular.
